Leawood Elementary is a wonderful neighborhood school serving students preschool through 5th grade. We are located in the Columbine Valley area of Jefferson County by Clement Park. We are committed to our mission statement “Discover, Inspire, and Grow… Together” and we strive to make learning relevant and fun. Our three PBIS traits that are modeled on a daily basis are respect, responsibility and safety. Our shared values ensure that we create an environment for students and staff which support the academic, social, and emotional needs of all. 

We are child-centered, and strive for our students to be self-directed learners and citizens, who make a positive contribution to their communities through relevant, school-wide authentic experiences. We have a beautiful school garden that provides cross-content learning indoors and outdoors. Leawood students are members of a digital community that use technology as a tool to communicate, collaborate and innovate. We are a 1:1 school, where Chromebooks are integrated into daily instruction and learning tasks. Students are exposed to flexible seating, outdoor classrooms, robotics, Lego creations and a variety of extracurricular opportunities to enhance their learning experience and promote teaching the whole child.

Teachers at Leawood Elementary operate with a growth mindset and support students building resilience and "grit", while keeping differentiation at the forefront of learning. As a staff, we continually work to improve upon our strengths and deepen our teaching practices through professional learning communities. We are collaborative risk-takers who embrace a growth-mindset for our students, as well as for our staff. We embrace empathy and flexibility within our classrooms.
